How does PAC Help the Students?

PAC is responsible for funding quality enrichment programs for all the students at Florence Sawyer/Emerson school. In addition to enrichment activities, each year PAC sets aside funds to help the students in a wide range of ways. PAC contributes money to the registration and the training of a teacher for the Destination Imagination Program. PAC also funds the Animal Adventures outreach program, the annual seventh grade trip to see a Shakespearean play, and contributes to the eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. PAC publishes the student directory and the bi-weekly school newsletter. PAC funds the Summer Reading /AR Awards, and maintains a Student Assistance Fund for those students in need. PAC contributes to each classroom for field trips to help defray the costs of those trips for the students.

How does PAC Help the Teachers?

Each year PAC retains a special Teacher's Supply Fund for all classroom teachers. Teachers may draw upon this fund throughout the year to replenish needed classroom supplies. Every spring PAC takes great pride in showing the staff of Florence Sawyer/Emerson just how important they are to the parents by hosting a wonderful brunch and dessert day during Staff Appreciation Week.

What is the Parent's Advisory Council?

The Parent's Advisory Council (PAC) is a volunteer organization whose members are parents/guardians of Florence Sawyer/Emerson students. The PAC governing board consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. The council also has one or two teacher representatives. PAC funds enrichment programs for the students, assists with the cost of class field trips, helps subsidize individual classroom supplies, and administers the volunteer support program. PAC also fosters communication between school staff and the parent community.

How does PAC Fund Everything?

In order to continue providing students with outstanding support, PAC holds several fundraiser's throughout the year. Florence Sawyer/Emerson parents tremendous support with these fundraiser's have helped make them a huge success year after year!
